Wi-Fi Calling enables voice and SMS over a Wi-Fi network when cellular coverage is weak or unavailable.
Wi-Fi calling is a lifesaver in buildings, basements, or remote areas. No special app required — just enable the feature and call as usual.
Before You Start
To get started, make sure you're connected to
campus Wi-Fi using ICC_GUEST. Your carrier must support Wi-Fi calling and have a SIM or active eSIM installed.
How It Works
Calls and messages automatically route over Wi-Fi when it’s available and the cell signal is poor.
Get Started
Open Settings on your phone and follow the instructions.
iPhone (iOS)
- Open Settings → tap Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- Select a SIM line if you use Dual-SIM.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then toggle Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone to On.
- Confirm your Emergency Address, if prompted.
- (Optional) Turn on Add Wi-Fi Calling for Other Devices → go to Calls on Other Devices → toggle Allow Calls on Other Devices → enable listed devices (iPad, Mac, Apple Watch)
When active, “Wi-Fi” appears next to your carrier in the status bar or Control Center.
Pixel / Android
- Open Settings → Network & Internet.
- Tap SIMs (or your active SIM).
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling → toggle Use Wi-Fi calling to On.
- (If requested) Provide your Emergency Address and accept terms.
Samsung Galaxy
- Option 1: Go to Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi Calling → toggle On.
- Option 2: Swipe down from top of display (two fingers) to open Quick Settings, then tap Wi-Fi Calling tile.
- Enter or confirm your Emergency Address, if prompted (Samsung, Davidson Technology & Innovation).
Once enabled, you'll often see “Wi-Fi Calling” in the expanded notification or setting panel — especially when Wi-Fi is used instead of cellular service.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure Wi-Fi Calling is toggled On, and your carrier supports it.
- Check Wi-Fi signal strength and try a different Wi-Fi network if issues persist.
- Make sure Airplane Mode is OFF, or if ON, re-enable Wi-Fi manually after turning it on.
- Restart your device, and if the issue persists, reset your network settings.
- Remove and reinsert the SIM card.
- Update your device’s OS.
