🎒 Student Technology Guide

Welcome to ICC! Whether you’re a brand-new student or just need a refresher, this guide will help you get started with all the tech resources you'll use every day.

🚀 Get Started

  • Visit my.icc.edu — your one-stop student portal.

  • Your @lab.icc.edu email is used for all official college communication (tuition, deadlines, alerts).

  • Store your passwords securely—you're going to need them often.

  • Access Microsoft Office for free:
    ➡️ Office 365 Education (use your ICC student email).

  • Check your MyICC Dashboard regularly for tasks and to-dos.

🔑 User ID / Username

Your ICC username is used to access:

  • MyICC

  • Canvas

  • Student Email

  • Library databases

  • On-campus computers

📍 To find your username:

  1. Go to MyICC

  2. Click the MyICC Login tile.

  3. Select Find User ID/Username.

  4. Follow the prompts.

📧 Student Email

Access your ICC email through Gmail:

  1. Go to MyICC, click the Student Email tile.

  2. Log in using: username@lab.icc.edu

  3. Default password: ICC + last 5 digits of your SSN (e.g., ICC12345)

  4. You’ll be prompted to change your password on first login.

While logged in, you also get access to Google apps like Docs, Drive, and Calendar.

🧾 MyICC (eServices)

Your all-in-one dashboard for:

  • Registering/dropping classes

  • Checking deadlines

  • Paying bills online

  • Viewing your schedule and grades

To log in:

  • Visit my.icc.edu

  • Select MyICC Login

  • Use your ICC username and password
    ❗ We don’t recommend changing your password in MyICC. Contact the Help Desk instead.

🧑‍🏫 Canvas (Online Courses)

Canvas is ICC’s Learning Management System. Instructors use it to post:

  • Course content & syllabi

  • Assignments

  • Discussions

  • Grades

To log in:

  1. Go to MyICC, select the Canvas tile

  2. Use your ICC username and password

    • Default password: ICC + last 5 digits of SSN

  3. Best used in Chrome or Firefox

🚨 Campus Police & MyAlert

  • ICC uses MyAlert to send emergency notifications to students via text, call, and email.

  • Students are automatically enrolled—keep your info updated in MyICC.

  • Parents can opt-in via the Campus Police page.

📱 Download the LiveSafe app:

  • Add "Illinois Central College" as your organization.

  • Use it to quickly contact Campus Police and view emergency procedures.

📚 Academic Support

Get free tutoring and study help through the Academic Support Center:

  • Go to MyICC, click the Academic Support tile
    OR

  • Visit: icc.edu/asc

Services include:

  • In-person & virtual tutoring

  • Writing help

  • Math assistance

📖 Library Support

The ICC Library provides access to:

  • Books & eBooks

  • Articles & databases

  • Research support

To access:

  • Click the Library Support tile in MyICC

  • Off-campus users: Log in with your ICC network account

💻 ICC Network Login

To log into any on-campus computer:

  • Use your ICC username and password

Grants access to:

  • Internet

  • Software (Office, browsers, etc.)

  • Library databases

  • Campus printers

  • Your personal H:// drive (network storage)
