Student Technology Guide

Get Started

New to ICC? Here are some tips to get you started with technology as a first-time student. 

  • Your @lab.icc.edu address is used for official college email, including your tuition bill. You must check this email account.
  • Keep your passwords in a safe place.
  • To get Office 365 for free, visit Office 365 Education. Select that you are a student and use your ICC student email address. 
  • Check your MyICC dashboard for important tasks and to-dos.

Student Technology Guide includes information about: 

User ID

Use your User ID for MyICC, Canvas, and email. Find Your User ID:

  • Go to MyICC and click on the MyICC login tile.
  • Select Find User ID/Username
  • Complete the prompts to find your User ID.

Student Email

Sign in to Your ICC Student Email Account.

Go to MyICC and select the Student Email tile. ICC student email is available through the Gmail app. While logged in to your student email account, you have access to other Google applications. These allow you to do things like create documents and save files online. 

  • The password should be ICC followed by the last 5 digits of your social security number if this is your first time logging in. You will be prompted to change your password.

MyICC

Log in to MyICC to check your contact information, enroll/drop classes, check due dates, pay online, view your schedule, and view your grades. 

Go to MyICC, select the MyICC login tile, and enter your Username and the password you received in your ICC email account. We don’t recommend you change your password through the MyICC site. For assistance, contact the Help Desk at (309) 694-5457.

Canvas

Log in to Canvas. Canvas is the online learning management system.  Instructors may use Canvas for syllabi, course materials, and/or an online gradebook. Use Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

  • Go to MyICC, select the Canvas tile, enter your username and password.
  • The password for Canvas is ICC (all caps) + last five digits of your social security number.

Campus Police

Be prepared to receive emergency messages via ICC MyAlert and quickly contact Campus Police via LiveSafe.

  • Current students are automatically enrolled in MyAlert to receive emergency notifications through text message, voice call, and email. Always keep this information up to date in your ICC account.  
  • Parents may opt-in to receive notifications at MyAlert or the Campus Police webpage
  • Download LiveSafe for free from the App Store or Google Play and add Illinois Central College as your Organization. Use the app to quickly call or text Campus Police. The app also contains on- and off-campus resources, maps, and emergency procedures.

Academic Support

Take advantage of FREE Academic Support resources. The Academic Support Center provides in-person and online academic support.

  • Go to MyICC, and select the Academic Support tile or enter icc.edu/asc into the search bar.

Library Support

Access the Library website. The library website provides access to books, articles, and research online. Some of the library's online resources require a login.

  • Go to MyICC and select the Library Support tile.
  • For access to the library databases from off-campus, use your ICC network account information (see below).

ICC Network Login

To sign in to an ICC computer use your Username and password.
